Tanzania Mwalyego

Tanzania Mwalyego

We’ve tasted a number of Tanzanian coffees over the years, but it’s been a long time since we liked one enough to purchase. While cupping samples from our partners at Crop to Cup several months back, this lot from the Mwalyego Cooperative stood out to us and we had to bring it in.

Crop to Cup has been exploring coffee offerings in Tanzania for the last three years and though they have come across coffees that delivered on flavor, they hadn’t found a partner who had the organization or reliability they were looking for. But in the Mwalyego Cooperative they found a community that was organized, well governed, and interested in making their coffee the very best it can be.

This coffee has a full, creamy body with overtones of citrus and tropical fruit. We picked out an orange note that we found to be very tasty!

  • Full-bodied with nice brightness and hints of orange.
  • Our favorite preparations for this coffee were the v60 pour over and the Chemex, both of which made delicately sweet, balanced, and fruit-filled cups.
